Black Letters

This day is streaked with cold rain
Gigantic wet splattering drops
That cling to my tangled hair
Like globs of sticky grape jam

This coffee warms my throat
Silky with swirling spoonfuls of cream
Translucent wisps of aromatic air
Curl over the rim of my waxy paper cup

These words fills the space
Black letters paint white walls with life
Replace the boredom in this place
Cut this melancholy like a knife

  1. Beautifully written. Word choice fits the mood. Fav line: Gigantic wet splattering drops

  2. The fourth line of each verse makes us realize our vulnerability. Very well done.
